The rehabilitation design of the exterior façade included restoring wooden window components, cleaning and repointing the brick and limestone, removal of modern electrical conduits and replacement of existing metal doors with new, similar doors. The design also included restoration of distinctive design elements including the light fixtures adjacent to the front entrance as well as the lettering on the side (north) elevation to retain the character defining features of the building.

The second component of the project called for a series of alterations to the landscape and site. The design includes replacing the existing chain link fence to feature a new cast iron gate and fence. The landscape design creates a useful outdoor reading space with low maintenance plantings. Modifications to the handicapped accessible ramp included a gate and fence separating it from the public sidewalk, open to the garden. Additional alterations to the landscape included new lighting, additional seating areas in the side yard, as well as changes to the parking and utility area at the rear of the site.
