1,200 sq. ft. 2 story addition with
600 sq. ft. 2nd floor renovation of bedroom and bathroom area.
A poorly constructed concrete block, one-story rear addition
with a flat roof was demolished to make way for this two-story
addition that gives the house more light and a greater presence
in the garden.
The materials, colors and forms of the new addition are modern,
but evocative of the original stone farmhouse. The construction
project allowed the owner to correct some problems with foundation
drainage due to expansive soils and provide modern heating
and air conditioning throughout the entire house. The original
stone farmhouse was preserved without any permanent changes
to its original historic fabric.
